Queen Elizabeth NP
“Tree-Climbing Lions, Boat Safaris & Exceptional Biodiversity”
Queen Elizabeth National Park spans 1,978 km² of remarkably varied habitats in western Uganda, from the savanna grasslands of the Kasenyi Plains to the equatorial rainforests of the Kyambura Gorge, the wetlands of Lake George, and the Kazinga Channel connecting Lakes George and Edward. The park is arguably Uganda's finest wildlife reserve, offering the chance to see tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector (a behaviour shared only with Manyara's lions), large herds of buffalo and elephant, hippos and crocodiles in abundance, and an array of primates including chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge. The two-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel is one of East Africa's great wildlife spectacles, passing within metres of hippo pods, Cape buffaloes, and enormous Nile crocodiles along banks crowded with hundreds of birds. With over 600 bird species, Queen Elizabeth is a world-class birding destination.
