Murchison Falls
“The World's Most Powerful Waterfall — Uganda's Largest National Park”
Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda's largest protected area (3,840 km²) and home to the most powerful waterfall on Earth — the point where the entire volume of the River Nile is forced through a six-metre-wide gorge, creating an explosion of white water and mist that can be heard kilometres away. The park offers exceptional wildlife viewing across three distinct activities: game drives on the north bank's open savanna (lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, Uganda kob, and oribi), a boat cruise on the Nile from Paraa to the base of the falls (hippos, crocodiles, and extraordinary bird diversity), and the short hike to the falls summit for a face-on view of this extraordinary natural force. The Nile boat trip, passing within metres of hippo pods and Nile crocodiles resting on sandy beaches, is one of Uganda's finest wildlife experiences. The park also features chimpanzee trekking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest.
